Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the advantages of alternative dispute resolution?
  • The advantages of alternative dispute resolution are speed and cost. Settling a dispute directly without going to court is faster and cheaper than litigation.

  • What is the cost?
  • In mediation cases referred by a circuit court, the court sets the fee at $200 per hour, to be divided between the parties. In private mediation cases we charge a reasonable fee plus a one-time charge for administration, both available upon request. Fees for other services are happily provided. In all cases, our fees are much less than you would spend going to circuit court.

  • Do I need a lawyer?
  • Not necessarily. If a suit has been filed in circuit court, attorneys are usually involved; however, they are not required. If you want to resolve the matter without going to court, you may wish to work with the other party directly without getting lawyers involved to save everyone money.
