Patuxent Mediation Services, LLC is a full-service dispute resolution firm that can meet your needs. We offer a wide range of services for businesses, individuals, and government agencies, including Mediation, Arbitration, Settlement Conferencing, Conflict Management Training, and System Design. Located in Columbia, Maryland, and named for the nearby Patuxent River, we specialize in civil, non-domestic disputes; e.g., commercial and business conflicts, workplace and employee matters, personal injury cases, real estate and landlord-tenant matters, and workers’ comp cases. If you need assistance with a custody or divorce action, we are happy to refer you to qualified specialists.
Patuxent Mediation Services, LLC is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
The advantages of alternative dispute resolution are speed and cost. Settling a dispute directly without going to court is faster and cheaper than litigation.
In mediation cases referred by a circuit court, the court sets the fee at $200 per hour, to be divided between the parties. In private mediation cases we charge a reasonable fee plus a one-time charge for administration, both available upon request. Fees for other services are happily provided. In all cases, our fees are much less than you would spend going to circuit court.
Not necessarily. If a suit has been filed in circuit court, attorneys are usually involved; however, they are not required. If you want to resolve the matter without going to court, you may wish to work with the other party directly without getting lawyers involved to save everyone money.
